At UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Dustin Poirier by submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:06 of Round 3 to retain the UFC lightweight championship.
Khabib is now 28-0 in his MMA career.

Putin stated, “I want to congratulate you. It was a decent fight against a strong and tenacious rival.”
Khabib takes a dig at the Conor McGregor while replying to Putin, “Yes, the opponent was strong and respectable. This time around I fought against a person who respected me.”

Putin concluded, “I watched the fight, you submitted him with a rear-naked choke, it was a classic chokehold. You did it in the correct way, without squeezing his throat, but holding him on both sides of the neck, as it should be. It was all fair.”
